First 5 Days of Preschool Lesson Plans with FREEBIE Included
I’ve got something so wonderful for you! The First 5 Days of Preschool Lesson Plans are done for you, all you must do is download them!
The lesson plans were developed using what I’ve learned throughout my over 15 years of early childhood teaching.
You can expect these preschool lesson plans to be developmentally appropriate, engaging, and highly effective.
In this post:
- Why I made 5 days of FREE Preschool Lesson Plans
- How this resource will help you
- Next steps after downloading the Preschool Lesson Plans
Why did I develop these Preschool Lesson Plans (for FREE)?
One of my goals is to make teaching those little ones as simple (and fun) as possible.
What better way to do that than to create lesson plans for you?
You can start the school year building relationships and actually teaching instead of spending hours planning.
I know the beginning of the school year is a highly stressful time, so let me ease your stress a bit by taking over the planning for the first 5 days of preschool.
It’s no secret that moms and teachers carry a tremendous mental load. We have to keep track of everything for everyone.
These lesson plans will help alleviate your mental load. You won’t need to remember what you planned to do for preschool. All you have to do is look at the plan.
My heart truly wishes for peace for you and the little ones in your life. Taking the huge task of preschool lesson planning off your plate is one way I can give you a little peace.
This resource of the First 5 Days of Preschool Lesson Plans is invaluable- here’s why
Now, I didn’t just want to give you some generic plans and send you on your way. The lesson plans need to be GREAT!
There is so much worth in this resource. Everything you need is included.
Activities specific to preschool content areas
You will find the exact books I use at the beginning of the school year. The lesson plans include activities for name recognition and writing.
Daily phonemic awareness and foundational literacy skills activities are incorporated.
Simple hands-on math experiences will get your little mathematicians problem solving and using logical thinking skills right from the start.

All the academic activities are engaging and designed for young children to feel comfortable and unpressured.
Physical development activities are included in the preschool lesson plans too.
Preschool is SO MUCH MORE than academic learning!
The First 5 Days of Preschool Lesson Plans have activities designed for physical development as well.
What’s the best way for children to learn and strengthen their bodies? PLAY! That’s why all the activities in the preschool lesson plans are based on play and keeping children’s minds and bodies active.
You will find simple activities for building the tiny muscles in your little one’s fingers, hands, and wrists which will eventually lead to solid control of pencils and writing materials.
The fine motor skills activities have sensory elements to fulfil the tactile needs of young learners. For the children who already have fairly strong small muscles, I have included lessons for basic writing strokes.
Let’s not forget about the big, powerful muscles! Kids to build those gross motor skills too.
The gross motor skills lessons in these preschool plans include more than just playing on the playground at recess.
I have included specific examples of games and activities for preschoolers to work on gross motor skills such as hand-eye coordination, balance, and muscle control.
I’m bringing the songs and word play back to preschool
I know that children build strong literacy, speaking, and listening skills through songs and nursery rhymes.
That’s exactly why I’ve included so many in the First 5 Days of Preschool Lesson Plans.
Foundational literacy skills, such as rhyming and alliteration, are NOT learned best through sit and get strategies.
Songs, chants, and nursery rhymes are much more natural and effective ways of teaching these skills to children.
I’ve given you so many examples of songs and nursery rhymes in these preschool lesson plans for you to use! Plus, I include the words in case you’ve forgotten them from your childhood.
You can learn more about the importance of nursery rhymes here.
Check out this post for music activities, and this post for joyful children’s song ideas.
You’ve downloaded the lesson plans. Now what?
Okay, you received your own copy of the First 5 Days of Preschool Lesson Plans and have started teaching preschool for the year.
Where do you go from here?
The format of the lesson plans I’ve developed is so simple and meant for new teachers and homeschool parents to continue using as you create your own lesson plans for the rest of the school year.
Of course, you are likely to find and planning system and format that works better for you, but my goal was to give you a solid starting point.
When you start your lesson planning, kick off the process with the learning objectives/goals and outcomes. Then incorporate your theme or unit of study.
Don’t go into your school day blind. Having high-quality lesson plans ensures that your little ones are learning and working on the skills they need to be successful.
